Hello, I’m Arin. It’s nice to meet you.
You’re probably viewing my page because there's something in your life you want to change. You've come to the right place.
I want to hear your story and understand why you're seeking counseling. No matter what you're experiencing out there in the world, in session I bring warmth, caring, respect, and a desire to help you to heal and grow. It doesn't matter how young or old you are, what you have been though, or have yet to achieve, your healing journey isn’t over... it’s just beginning.
EDUCATION
I hold a BA in Psychology from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon and a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy (MA MFT) from George Fox University in Portland, Oregon.
EXPERIENCE
Since 2009 I have been either studying psychology, practicing psychology, or both. In the beginning of my work with clients, I spent many years in community mental health treating seriously and persistently mentally ill clients (SPMI) with little to no resources for help. It was here that I discovered that the majority of the population I was treating was suffering from multiple forms of trauma. This led me to focus on trauma informed care in order to better serve and understand my clients. I became trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and am EMDR certified through the EMDR board: EMDRIA.ORG. I have also completed level 1 training in IFS (Internal Family Systems) and am located on the IFS website under find a therapist feature: https://selfleadership.org. This additional training and experience has been instrumental for me to be able to treat anxiety, insomnia, depression, trauma, PTSD, dissociation, chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, anger/irritability, somatic complaints, and many other issues that come with traumatic experiences.
After my work in the public sector I began private practice and joined group practice, Pacific Northwest Behavioral Health for a number of years. I am now in solo private practice as Arin Wallington Counseling, LLC, along with my therapy dog, Stevie. My practice is located in Oregon City, Oregon, where I am able to treat clients with a wide variety of symptoms using a multitude of different modalities. In 2019/2020 I became level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and my goal for 2020/2021 is to become and EMDR supervisor. My passion for PTSD/C-PTSD treatment continues to lead me to become involved in more trainings to further my experience in trauma treatment.

PERSONAL
My family is the most important thing to me, and I spend most of my free time with them, adventuring out in the wild with our golden lab Stevie and a strong cup of coffee. Growing up in Portland, and going to college and graduate school here, means that I have a large networking system of friends, work colleagues, and family members who help me to continually grow in my love for helping others and help my clients connect to services and professionals they need. I believe that deep and meaningful connection in this life with loved ones is what creates true happiness, and part of my passion in life as a therapist is helping people to reconnect and find the path they were meant to be on.
